Winter 2021 thus far

Welp we're about half way into anime winter season 2021 and boy do we have a lot of good shows stacked. This is just a quick overview of 3 shows and my impressions on them that I've been keeping up on thus far. Because of the vast amount of titles, I won't be going over shows that have a sequel season such as Re:Zero, Quintessential Quintuplets, Attack on Titan, etc. This is mostly focusing on the new entries this season.

With a title such as "Wonder Egg Priority" I already am raised with a simple question..... "what?" "Ai score a 'Wonder Egg' from a gachapon machine at a deserted arcade. But when Ai falls asleep a girl emerges from her Wonder Egg, the worlds of dreams and reality being to collide. And it's all connected." The summary also didn't answer any questions and only raised more. I mean it sounds interesting I wonder how this show will go. As I dove into the series I was pleasantly surprised how well this show is. Ai in her sleep ends up in an alternate world where monsters are roaming around hunting down whatever "hatches" out of the wonder egg and she is tasked with protecting her egg. The story is still up in the air but it seems that saving a certain number of eggs will grant Ai the ability to save her friend who committed suicide earlier in the show. The animation is very well done. The scenery and the characters look very clean, and the monsters look very distorted giving off a very eerie vibe to them. After 6 episodes in, I'm still having a good time with the series and curious to see how this all wraps up. This series is definitely high up my score. (8/10 so far)

Ai being chased by dolls

"So I'm a Spider so, what?" is one of the new isekai (another world) shows to hit this season and was pretty anticipated by the community. The quick gist of it is Kumoko, is a high school student and during class one day an explosion hits the school killing everyone. (We are not sure why or how this explosion, hopefully this gets explained later.) Kumoko awakens to find her self in a cave reincarnated as a spider in a fantasy world. Out of all the isekai genre anime I've seen or read, this is the first one where the reincarnate into a creature. The mechanics in the fantasy world follow your typical RPG game, where things are tracked my stats, such as Attack, Defense, Magic Points, Hit Points, etc. The story primarily follows Kumoko as she tries to survive in this new world as a spider. The story at sounds promising, but after 6 episodes in I feel it's paced slowly. So far she's only been exploring this cave and fighting creatures to get stronger. The animation is pretty good to, it's nothing amazing but it looks good on the eyes, even when they swap over to 3D models for some sequences the models looks decent as well. I'll be keeping up with this as well, and it's going to be 24 episodes. (6/10)

Kumoko reincarnated as a spider

Mushoku Tensei: Jobless Reincarnate, is one of the best isekai shows I've seen in a very long time. It could possibly be top anime of the season for me as well. It starts out with a 38 year old man from Japan being taken to ER after getting hit by a bus. As the doctors are operating on him, the man spaces out between the hospital and re-awakening to a young couple giving birth. I already appreciate how the series bridges how the protagonists ends up in fantasy world. We see the transition between his death in Japan into his rebirth into another world. He quickly comes into terms that he is reincarnated into another world, but still retains his memory and conscience. Now reincarnated into a boy named Rudeus Grayrat he now lives in another world with his new family. The themes this show tackle are pretty serious and are handled in a way that helps character growth. The characters in the show are well written. They aren't shown as perfect people at all. Each of the character has a fault to them that make them feel like an actual person. The animation does a great job capturing the atmosphere and the mood of the series. Studio Bind, is the studio handling this series and they were founded only to create this show. They had one job, and boy did they do that one job right. (9/10)

I'm keeping track of at least 17 shows this season so I have a lot on my plate. If theirs a show you're interested on my thoughts on leave em in the comments below!
